Holiday Greetings & Thanks from Our Troops
Thanks from Karl Young:

Ann, Thank you very much for the Christmas package. I was surprised to get something from someone that I had never met! The package was opened less than 10 minutes when all of the contents were gone. I shared the tin of cookies with some of the older guys who would appreciate the homemade stuff and the bucket of cookies were for the "kids" who make a profession out of eating and not gaining weight from it. The ornaments are atop of a electrical box that is in our open baracks for all to see. The snacks were great! The game was the source of contention, but we decided that we would keep it on one of our folding camp chairs and it had to stay there and whoever was in the chair could play it. I do appreciate your generosity and so do the others in Inshore Boat Unit 21 who were there when the box was opened. I have attached a card made from a picture that a few of them posed for a few weeks ago. Thanks & Merry Christmas from Camp Patriot Kuwait Karl Young

and thanks from Tom Kurlick:

Ann Walsh,
Sorry so late getting back to you. I do not have a good address for wounded soldiers mail. I am sorry, nor do I have any wounded soldiers at this time. That is a good thing.
I recently received a nice Christmas Package from oyu at WINN TV and it had some very nice UCONN shirts in it. I really like the home town news and personal messages. It really brought a tear to my eye and made me think of my fun childhood there in Windsor!!!

I will be contacting people directly to thank them for there thoughts and prayers and thoughtful gifts.
Thanks again and WINDSOR IS WONDERFUL!!!!!!!!!

and a thank-you from Scott Carmon:

Ann,
I wanted to thank you for all of the packages that I've received. I feel a little guilty about getting them because I volunteered to come here and technically I could leave whenever I choose. Nonetheless, I really appreciate the support and hope you can extend my gratitude to all of those involved in your program. I am embedded with a team of Marines and I brought those children's letters to a meeting for everyone to read. It was a real morale booster and everyone enjoyed them. In our spare time, my team visits the nearby refugee camps to distribute clothing, toys and candy to the children. I have given most of the things you've sent me to those kids, so you can let people know that their generosity has also brought smiles to some children in very unfortunate circumstances.
Everything is going well over here and I don't have much longer in my deployment. It has been an incredible experience. I have the opportunity to work with Iraqis from all over the country and it is inspiring to hear stories of how things are improving in their hometowns everyday. Although it may not seem that way by how the effort is portrayed in the media, we are winning this thing and I believe it is worth it. I think it's important for people back home to hear that.
Thanks again for everything.
Scott
P.S. Could you take me off of the mailing list? With the delay in mail, I may be relocating before I can receive any more mail here.

Christmas Greetings from Overseas

"Thank you for the box of goodies. It's nice to know that the great towns people care about us fighting troops. God bless you and all the people who made the gift possible."

"To Ann Walsh and Win-TV board and staff,
I received your package and have been meaning to write ever since. Thank you so much for all the items. The treats were devoured by myself and my buddies. Getting mail unto itself is great but getting stuff like that makes our lives easier and they help make this place bearable. Thank you and God bless.
Sincerely,
Brian Standish"

Subject: Hello From Mosul, Iraq

Mrs. Walsh,

Thanks for the packages that were sent over here to Iraq. All my Soldiers really appreciate all that you and the local schools have done to show your support for the troops who are deployed. As of now my company is living on our own on the outskirts of the northern city of Mosul. We are currently preparing for the Iraqi national elections on the 7th of March. Hopefully everything goes ok and those elected are installed without any bad stuff happening because of sore losers. Right now we are scheduled to redeploy at the end of November. Again thanks for the support.
