Letter From the Access Coodinator

Greetings once again, Windsor community. As the air grows crisper and the days shorten, the pace at Win-TV picks up once again. There are several new programs in the works as well as the addition of the Windsor News Briefs and various PSAs that began running this summer.
I'd like to remind everyone on our mailing list that if there's an event you're involved with in town or something that you find to be of interest just give Win-TV a call and we can turn it into one of our popular News Briefs. The News Briefs are roughly 2 - 5 minutes long and air between programs. They have proved to be effective ways of covering different events in town that may not lend themselves well to being full length programs. So far The Windsor Public Library, Geisslers and Kimberly Hall have been featured in the News Briefs, giving further exposure to their successful public events.
Please keep Win-TV in mind to keep the community informed about various news-worthy events. Non-profit organizations in town are also welcome to create their own PSAs to impart knowledge about valuable services and information. Once again, thanks for watching!

In the Works: Spolight with Barbara Ragland

In the Works: Spolight with Barbara Ragland
Local resident and activist Barbara Ragland is joining forces with Win-TV to launch a new talk show series that will feature a barrage of diverse, local guests. The show is scheduled to air Tuesday evenings at 7:00 p.m.
"My goal with this program is to introduce the Windsor Community to interesting people and events that could enhance their lives," explains Ragland.
Ragland is a former teacher and paralegal who is using her retirement time to continue to benefit the community through her show. She has many interesting guests lined up already so tune in to learn more about different people and organizations in the area.

Non-Profits Helping Non-Profits

Non-Profits Helping Non-Profits
To spread the word about September being Hunger Action Month, Win-TV has teamed up with the Windsor Department of Social Services to create a PSA for the Windsor Food Bank and also a longer question and answer format program about the Food Bank. Win-TV member Ann Walsh also helped to create an informational talk show about Windsor C.A.R.E.S. to further educate the community about the many services they provide.
The Windsor Food Bank is currently in dire need of donations. They have added twenty-four new families to their list and supplies are dwindling. To raise awareness, Win-TV is running a three minute PSA in hopes of bringing in more donations. The items that are needed most are:
cereal, pasta, pasta sauce, canned meat, soup, tuna fish and crackers. Please keep these items in mind when you are looking through your cupboards or the next time you're in the grocery store. If you have any such items to spare please bring them to the Windsor Food Bank located in the L.P. Wilson Community Center. Please help us to help our Windsor neighbors.

First Antique Appraisal Day a Success!

First Antique Appraisal Day a Success!
After months of wondering exactly how it would pan out, everyone on the Win-TV team was happy with the outcome of our first ever Antique Appraisal Day. The appraisal day took place on Saturday, September 19th at the TV station. Folks came from near and far to find out if they could strike it big with their belongings.
This event was the first of our Fall fundraisers and the proceeds will go to new equipment purchases for the studio.
Two local appraisers, Jamie Selig and Ray Lasky from Central Street Antiques generously provided their services for the four hour period. Selig and Lasky gave each guest as much information as possible about their antiques along with a verbal appraisal amount.
So, did anyone have a true treasure in their possession? We're not at liberty to say, but watch for highlights of the appraisals on Channel 5.
